The Pleasant Strangeness of Our Times

In my opinion we are living in pleasantly strange times right now. In many respects it’s hard to pinpoint what makes it seem so strange, but it may be that there is an awakening of consciousness across the globe that is no longer possible to ignore.

70's issuesI may not have noticed this consciousness change had I been born in the mid-‘80’s or later, but I’ve been around longer than that; and there is a large difference in the general awareness level of the mass populace now as opposed to the mass populace of the ‘70’s through the ‘90’s. As a collective awareness, we’ve matured considerably from those earlier attempts at relating to others who might seem “different” from us.

I’m sure the electronics age combined with the Internet connecting us all world-wide has helped many to realize that living thousands of miles apart no longer separates and defines us the way it once did.earth

Many younger people now may even consider themselves as belonging more to the Global Community than to their own regions, especially if those regions are inclined to stagnate and maintain their centuries-old manner of operation. The ability to accept and to relish positive change is a key determiner of a society’s health and advancement.

Even the mind-set of the political party in power affects the expansion of conscious awareness. Those parties who favor inclusiveness and sharing open their consciousness to new ideas and progressive agendas. Mass consciousness truly inflates during these years of advancing social agendas over the previous war-focus.

So many factors are at play in the strangeness of these present times that it is hard to point at one or two of them and say, “It’s because this happened then that was triggered, that everything changed for the better for everyone.” And the betterment of EVERYONE is the key determiner of a society’s advancement.

white peacockPersonally I think that the energies of this TIME are quite different in quality and strength than they have been throughout my earlier lifetime. I believe that those higher-frequency energies pouring in now are playing a major role in lifting human consciousness out of the combative muck and mire where they have been stuck for centuries, and hopefully into a lighter, more spiritual focus on sharing and caring about the welfare of others, with less focus on “but what’s in it for ME” in every major administrative decision.

That perceived newer focus is based on inclusion and compassion, sharing and connecting with others in new and better ways of building community and fellowship.collective consciousness

The collective consciousness change is happening—it is underway. Hopefully it can continue to expand and rise even though we are entering the American political season where inflammatory BS usually trumps truth.

But we can prevent truth erosion by keeping our own consciousness high and above that self-serving rhetoric. Be more aware of your OWN truth and maintain that luminous connection to YOUR higher knowledge. That’s where Higher Consciousness really resides.

River Rocks

rocks in riverSo many ways to look at this title…but only one to follow. Kind of like the subject matter contained here that I metaphorically likened to “River Rocks.”

I have a favorite online astrologer that I follow: Tom Lescher (Astrology for the Soul https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OGanHCos14 ). I’ve mentioned him many times as someone I find extremely accurate in overall energy readings as associated to the planetary alignments of the time.Tom

Whenever I feel something strange or intense in the overall energies around us/affecting us, I listen to his weekly video and usually hear an astro-explanation from him that substantiates what I’ve been kinesthetically noticing. (In a sense, he reassures me that what I am sensing energetically is ‘right on.’)

And because I’ve listened to him so many times and he’s been so reliably accurate to what I had been noticing, I keep listening to him week after week.

But a few months ago, one of his protégés who I shall not mention, caught my ear and I also listened to his vlog for awhile until I began to notice something very different between the two astrologers: a difference in the accumulated wisdom from age and experience, and a lighter (higher frequency)-energy attitude used to deliver the information.

In other words, the younger protégé was a poor substitute for the original, because life does that ‘thing’ to us during the process of living: it ‘seasons us’ the way only time and experience can. It broadens our perspectives and grants us compassionate witnessing.

river rocksThat’s when my mind showed me the image of a rounded, palm-sized, white stone—a river rock that had been tumbled and pounded along the stream bed by torrential rains, flash flooding, and by all things violently affecting the flow and force of a river.

Or to put it more simply, the white rock’s original rough edges and sharp corners were now rounded off from time and river-bottom travel.

That once jagged-edged stone was now smooth to the touch and felt very comfortable in the palm of my hand. That’s the after-effect of being bounced along a rocky, river bottom—you lose all those sharp edges.

To me listening to Tom is like holding that river rock, and his reports are softer, more humorous and compassionate, yet still substantive and real. He keeps his energy light and flowing, and refrains from getting “preachy” with you because he’s been there himself where we all are, and he gets it. It’s more of a been-there, done-that, sharing-the-information-report with friends, than a proselytizing opportunity for an egoic neophyte trying to stand out in an over-populated, astrology-reporting community.

The river rock image I mountain streamsaw in my mind ALSO epitomizes that LIFE may not be as predictable and gentle to us as we often wish that it were, but you eventually learn to tumble along with the flow until those rough edges wear away. Then we can roll more easily during the water’s occasional turbulence instead of catching in every crevice that might snag at us.

Ultimately we learn to ride and tumble along with least resistance to the torrid current around us, until we reach a destination more to our liking; or we may eventually catch an inquisitive eye and find a kindred, fleshy palm to nestle into. Then we can employ a new mode of transportation for a time.wisdom

But wherever it goes, a river rock rolls on and on, because the journey never really ends. Only the terrain changes once in awhile.

Taking It As It Comes

tornado and farmIn the aftermath of severe storms, people gather together supporting one another, while they plan how to get on with their lives. Communities become like extended families of genuinely caring individuals who find a way to make life better for those in the greatest need of help.

In the Midwest (I’m in Iowa), many have had wind and hail damage this spring, with a few areas hit worse than others. We were lucky in our location and had only straight-line winds and golfball-sized hail requiring roof and siding replacements.

But a few miles to the east of us, barns and entire homes were obliterated by a tornado. It all depends on where the storm tracks as to who gets the worst damage, or who skates by with minimal affectation. Last year we were lucky and skated free when only two blocks away from us trees throughout town were downed and siding ripped from many homes—but we were NOT so lucky this year.

So I’m sensitive to the way life can suddenly change for anyone; and hochaos graphicw those changes can create havoc to habitual living, forcing change and complete start-overs in many lives. There is a Chinese ideogram that states: Crisis creates the opportunity for change, but some would call it a necessity for change.

To many, these are just the challenges that go with life in general no matter where you live. Challenge-wise you simply learn to take it as it comes. If you are knocked flat, you take a moment to get your breath back and then stand up again—brushing yourself off and getting on with your life. We all learn to do this, one way or another.

What I and those in my community are going through is pretty mild compared to the major devastation that many have endured over the last few years, and I am thankful to be sitting safely in my own home as I write this. The same cannot be said for everyone. So as challenges go, for us this one is minor compared to many.

But it only takes a few situations like these to discover how interdependent we all are on each other for support and encouragement when we need it. Many helping hands make short work of sorting through a field of debris, or removing the rubble from toppled buildings, including rescuing loved ones from beneath them.

Parkersberg tornado helpIn farm country as soon as the danger passes, dozens of trucks show up out of nowhere to areas of devastation, and people jump out with work clothes on to start the massive cleanup. Tables of food instantly arise from the suddenly cleared yard to feed the folks helping those who were unlucky enough to be in the path of destruction, but LUCKY enough to have friends and neighbors to help them through the bad times.

That’s just how it is—you help your neighbors and know that if it’s ever your time to need help, they will be there for you as well.

Wherever we live, that’s what we do as caring individuals—we do what we can to help others, knowing that if the time comes that we ever need the help, that same help will be available for us as well.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You simply have to take life as it comes—good or bad, with gratitude and respect; and then you pay it forward in some possible way because some day you know that YOU might need others the way they presently need you. And that’s the beauty of it all.

So Many Questions

Seems like the older I get, the less I think I ever did know.

It isn’t that I’m losing knowledge along the way. It’s more so I’m realizing that those certainties I once felt about life in general, really weren’t. There are no genuine life certainties to be had; and life isn’t what it once seemed to be in the brashness of my youth. It’s just not that simple.

The sureties and certainties that we repeatedly tell ourselves ddelusionaily are often indicators of some deeply-guarded delusions created by the egoic mind. They are “deeply guarded” for a reason: we base every facet of our lives on those core beliefs—everything from WHAT we do, to HOW we do it, and most importantly to the WHY we do it aspect.

While this sounds a bit ridiculous to think that we are basing our lives on such serious inner fantasies, it actually means that to us they are NOT fantasies at all because we consider some of our deepest beliefs to be above intense inspection or reconsideration.

Those are the core beliefs that we aren’t going to change our opinions on without ample evidence to their flawed nature, because we’ve already invested far too much thought and emotion into them (as have our parents invested their time drilling them into us from infancy onwards).

We grew up believing in these things—being force-fed these things in some instances, and even now, those beliefs tend to bolster our mental concept of WHO we are as a person and WHAT we want (and deserve) from life—hence that’s why they are considered CORE beliefs.

To CHANGE a cobeliefsre belief is to create before us a sudden swampland-crossing where prior we had stood firmly anchored on solid psychological pavement. That fast-dissolving sense of inner solidity and environment framing, no matter how imperfect it may later be proven to be, made us sure of a purpose to our life and even provided us tangible future goals of creating a better life for ourselves and for our loved ones—i.e.: good jobs, lots of money, quick advancement, supportive families, the GOOD LIFE, etc..

You’ll recognize those swampland-crossings as unexpected illnesses, divorces, deaths, job losses, financial upheavals, addictions, assaults, betrayals, etc.—anything that suddenly shifts your perspective out of the “my life is flowing smoothly” steam of living and into sudden and complete chaos where firm-footings no longer exist.

That’s the point where your core beliefs come under the greatest inspection. If your beliefs help you through the toughest life issues without losing your sanity, they may be solid ones. If not, you will likely be searching for greater solace in a different belief system; and you’ll also be questioning whether your earlier beliefs were in fact, delusions—things you told yourself because that’s what you wanted to believe, NOT because they were true.

I can’t speak for anyone other than myself on this matter, but over the many decades of my own existence my personal beliefs have evolved—sometimes year-by-year. Learning to think for myself from college onwards was a major step in becoming my own person, rather than remaining the person that my parents or childhoquestionsod authorities tried to mold me into being.

And for many of us, that’s what “coming into our own” is all about—finding our own way rather than being told which way to choose, or how to act, or who to wed, or what to do with our lives, etc. Moving out of our parents’ and authority figure’s shadows is the most important first step that many will make toward establishing their own sense of purpose and destiny.

That being said, there are only a few guideline questions I might suggest if you are searching for the right path for you:

  • Is it a path based on love and compassion for yourself, as well as for all others?
  • Is it a path that makes you feel happy about yourself and how you spend your time? (NO GUILT allowed on this path.)
  • Is it a path that nurtures you, and gives you a deeper sense of expansion and future possibilities in THIS world, not the next one?
  • Is it a path that allows you to grow and BE who you truly are?
  • Is it a path of FREEDOM—or are you forever tied to the expectations of others?

These are a few questions that I would have found helpful to me when I was in my early twenties trying to decide on my own path to take back then.

bike of freedomIf you are so inclined, you might try them on for size and see how they feel to you in YOUR life right now.

Life is amazingly short, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time. Find yourself (and your true calling) early and enjoy every moment of your life daily.

Who Is the Healer Here?

It’s such a shame that by the time most of us finally get a handle on how life really works, it’s pretty late in the game.

It turns out that all those vices that we once adored may not have been so beneficial after all.

All thexcessose wild and crazy times with friends and anyone else around us back then, might not have been so “fun” the next morning when our eyes finally opened and our head stopped spinning. But then we went right back to them the next weekend, and the weekend after that, etc.

All those wheelbarrows full of chips, dips, sodas, hot dogs, nacho grandes, and candy bars we carted home from the grocery store or the fast-food joint, might not have been as nutritious and body-supportive as our younger minds once told us that they were. (Or as nutritious as our after-adolescent/pre-retirement minds told us they were.)

All those times we took the elevator rather than the stairs because the extra exercise was just too much effort, is starting to add up around our ever-expanding middle. Elastic waistbands or sweatpants have become our favorite mode of lower-body coverage. And those spandex pants stretched to infinity trying to cover 20-lbs of potatoes in 10-lb sack, is almost obscene from the rearview people! (Please don’t make me see that again.)

So here we are now….approaching middle-age from one side or the other (that’s if we live to be at least 100yrs), asking various doctors and nutritionists why we feel so awful.

  • Why does my body hurt?dr and pill
  • Why do I have indigestion?
  • Why can’t I eat the things I once did without regretting it in an hour?
  • Why do I have no energy?
  • Why can’t I sleep?
  • My head hurts. My body hurts. My back is killing me. My feet fall asleep.
  • Is there some pill or supplement that I can take to feel better NOW?

You know, I could claim that as an energy therapist or a hypnotist these are the very symptoms that I hear when people come to me hoping that I can help them find relief from some suffering and pain symptom; but in truth, I’m no different than any of those folks are—I’ve been there doing the “not so healthy” things in my youth that have likely contributed to my own present-day aches and pains. I just don’t do as much of them any longer, if at all.

So it’s pretty hard for me to criticize anyone; and it’s even hard for me to listen to those proselytizers who mount their mobile soapbox in front of a captive audience and shake a pencil-thin finger at others for their evidential health transgressions.

I mean really. We ARE human. We likely have had poor role models throughout our youth (and I don’t mean the razor-thin ones walking the fashion runways).

Not to mention that most of us didn’t have “Michele Obama mothers” who were as educated and disciplined about our early eating habits; because we more than likely had “Bill Clinton appetites” for fast burgers and fries on the side, oh yeah, …with a chocolate milkshake—to go, please.

However, in saying that we are both the products of tainted genetics and marketing-driven environments, there is still the important fact that WE are in charge of our own health; and it is UP TO US to change our ways to eating a healthier diet and to getting more exercise.

But it’s also up Jesus and the blind manto us to realize that the only one who really “heals you” is yourself. I and any other health practitioner can help all that we are able to help, but the rest is up to you (or me with my own aches and pains). We actually are the main determiners of our own healing—sometimes at this level of awareness and sometimes at the level of our Higher Self—depending on the lessons we came here to explore.

In reality as we presently know it there are NO silver bullets that magically eliminate a health foe. Nor are there instant “feel better” pills for chronic suffering. Yes, there are “feel-nothing” pills (or alcohol) that are addictive, but those aren’t the same as actually improving your health condition. Those just make you care less if you ever feel anything again—good or bad. That’s why they should be avoided.

In conclusion, I wish I could tell the person who called me over the weekhealthy body quoteend pertaining to his deteriorating health condition that, “Yes, you bet. I’ll have you feeling WAY better in no time.”

Except in all likelihood, I might be able to help you a little, but most of the work will be up to you and how you choose to live your life.

Long Time No Write

There are simply times when one has nothing to say. And if all those who truly had nothing to say would just not say it, we’d have a much quieter living environment. Not to mention there would be far fewer mindless TV shows on the tube.

Maybe there would be less violence if we didn’t feel the need to openly express our unsolicited opinions to others who definitely did not want to hear them, and who also vehemently responded back to us about our “erroneous” beliefs.

Perhaps we’d have less need to form support groups with those who share our views for issues of importance like poverty, human welfare, and the sharing of resources. Maybe there would be less venom in political parties for those who don’t see life exactly the same way that we do.shhhh

Silence may be a virtue, but it is also a necessity at times because when we are so vocally expressing our “side” of an argument we aren’t hearing the other side at all.

And that may make the difference between better understanding the overall situation and simply ignoring those who disagree with us.

Just sayin’.

Spring Is In the Air

springFinally!

While I know these same sentiments can’t be said by everyone everywhere, for myself it felt REALLY good to have an unseasonable 80-degree day yesterday in Iowa farm country in mid-March.

Yes, SPRING is fast approaching and everyone in my world is jumping for joy. After yet another winter of ridiculous snow amounts and below-zero temperatures, the season is finally changing,…as are we all, …whether we are as aware of the changes, as we are of the weather improvements.

I mentioned in the previous post that I was shifting focus both personally and in my blog. And although I can’t exactly pinpoint at present where my NEW focus lies, I can say this: I feel it is the dawn of a new day for all of us, I will attempt to describe here why I believe that to be true.

I’ll even list the reasolar flaressons, because we like lists. (It makes it look more official.):

  • We are all units of energy, constantly in motion and in various stages of expansion and contraction. The increased solar storm activity over the last decade, and especially over the last year, has been and still IS affecting us by amping up the electrical charge in our auric fields to create a more powerful personal presence—a more powerful energy field around us, when we interact daily with each other.

What that means is that stronger energy field makes us better defined as distinct, individual energy units, and more capable of standing strongly in our own power now than we were prior to the super-solar activity. It initially increased our combativeness, as might be expected, but we’re moving through that phase and into a calmer, more resolute, higher-frequency one.

It also means we are now less likely to be “absorbed” into the stronger fields of others (or adversely influenced by them). We have our own opinions, our own beliefs, and we don’t need others telling us how to think and feel. We feel more personally secure in our own knowledge now and less needful to defend ourselves from the opinions and combativeness of others. We stop making “their stuff,” our stuff.

We can hold our own with greater ease and comfort now; and that matters because we are moving from cult- and group-driven behaviors to individually-responsible behaviors. We are now more independent and more democratically inclined, as opposed to being autocratically-inclined. It might not seem that way at present, but the pendulum is in motion swinging strongly for freedom and independence for everyone, …everywhere. You’ll see. This will be a pivotal year for freedom world-wide. That I know.

  • Also, the global, lake-turnover energies that I discussed in earlier posts are smoothing into a higher-frequency wavelength, creating a more harmonious environment for us; which will in turn lessen the intensity of the statically-charged energy around us. And it will also lessen the inclination for those energies to disrupt all social interactions, unmasking all imposters that we might encounter. Imposters are doing a fine job of revealing themselves thanks to the increased light penetrating their own dark recesses. They can’t hide any longer. They’ve been outted by the intensity of the light. And that will continue.

We will welcome this new, more pleasant frequency resonance as it has a “coming home” feel to it. You will instantly recognize it, as you will ‘feel more at peace’ when it happens. Inner agitation will simply cease and you become genuinely calm and assured with a new-found sense of certainty that defies logic. That’s your true intuition kicking in. You will start relying more on that under-used intuitive sense now.

When this occurs for all, …and it will, …we will see and think more clearly than we had previously, and wonder why we didn’t “see those things” before that we now find so obvious to us. That’s called “a SHIFT” in consciousness. That’s what we are experiencing on a grand scale now. The SHIFT is actually occurring right now—we are IN IT at present. I’m not just shifting focus—WE ALL ARE SHIFTING FOCUS AT THE SAME TIME.

  • I’ll list one more thing to ponder before closing this post before it becomes a Homerian epic: Ah yes, speaking of the Greek poet Homer, Odysseythat is an appropriate reference. His tale was of the “Hero’s Journey” myth of Odysseus (Ulysses) the Greek King of Ithaca—returning home from the Trojan Wars. “The Odyssey” as it was called, implies that all he and his crew endured on the fateful journey was not just atonement for indiscretions, but was requirement from the gods to prove the warrior’s worth and sacrifice just to return to his homeland.

The good news is that Odysseus, the King, did make it home in tact, just as we have made it back through all the pitfalls and hard times we have faced over this last decade leading up to this momentous shift in consciousness. We are there now. We have arrived! It may not presently look like home, but it is.

The world is shifting higher, just as we are shifting our consciousness out of the need to force our opinions on others.

ageofaquariusAs this Spring season dawns on 2015, I predict that you will start to see the sprouting of new, more collaborative and more joyful experiences for everyone. This IS truly the dawning of a NEW AGE that we’ve been long awaiting.

Yes, just like my old album musical “HAIR” declares: It really is the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius.

I’m certainly ready for it. How about you?
