Living Beyond Fear

These are my lengthy notes from hearing Sara Landon speaking sara-landon.pngon “Reclaim Your Power” from 3-13-18, on the “Beyond the Ordinary Show”. (Hopefully this link will work for you, if not you can join the “Beyond the Ordinary Show” where you can access all of the speakers.) This one is definitely worth hearing.

(Most of these notes are either direct quotes or are quickly paraphrased as I listened to Sara, so please pardon my not using quotation marks. If it is MY opinion, I put it in parentheses.)

We are allowing our deepest core fears to come to the surface now. We must choose a new way to be—a new way to react.  It takes courage to live now. Give yourself permission to see what your deepest fears are and how they have controlled every part feargraphicof your life—how those deepest fears have caused chaos, confusion and suffering in your life.  People are now leading others through promoting fear.  Our visceral responses to watching others lead through fear—living in fear—is adversely affecting us. By living in fear, we are giving our personal power over to others. So this time period in the world is all about you taking back power over your own life.

5 signs that you are giving your power away:

  1. Dysfunctional relationship patterns repeating over and over
  2. Health Issues
  3. Money Issues
  4. Addiction issues
  5. Career/financial stability problems

We are at the time when these fears have come out of the dark and into the light.  Now we can process through them and change them.  Are you feeling isolated and in self-doubt?  How do you take power back over your life?

What is power and why do you want it?

Power is the ability to create a desired result. You have the ability to create a desired result. You can get what you want. Sometimes we live our lives in avoidance of unwanted things rather than focusing on creating the things we DO want in our lives.

What is your deepest fear?

Ask yourself this.  Many say they fear not being loved or fear being alone.

We often do things to avoid being unloved and to NOT be alone, so we tend to give our power away to others, just to avoid those things.loveyourselfmore

Her Council said that: “Our greatest achievement in this life is SELF-love.”   If we can love ourselves, we can change the world and learn to love all others again. Self-love is not narcissism. It is a deep acceptance that “I am okay at my core being. I am really okay. It is okay to just be ME.”

There are only two innate fears that we are born with: Fear of falling and the fear of loud noises. All other fears are learned.   That means that all other fears were created in highly emotional personal experiences, either personally felt or witnessed interacting with others, or from media sources—like watching a scary movie or TV show.

We experienced the trauma and felt the toxic emotions associated with that fear, whether real or imagined, and we replayed it in our mind until it became a subconscious behavior program that now frames every aspect of our lives.

How do we reclaim our power? Our deepest instinct is to be a part of the tribe—it is survival related. Your chances of survival were stronger within a group community rather than on your own alone.

There’s a survival instinct for connection. So we often give our power away just to fit into the group or to be loved or accepted by others. The fear of not being loved or not being enough turns us into people-pleasers. We give our power away to fit in and feel accepted. The “unacceptable by others” aspect of us is the part that we hide or push down, or deny that even exists.

All of your true power lives in the NOW.  NOW is the power point. Fear lives in the past powerofnowtitleand the future. NOW is the moment you can change and address with love and determination rather than cower in the shadows because of your future fears. Your fears keep you from experiencing your peace and joy in the NOW.

What do you desire to create? That must be your focus. So address the main fear you hold.  Ask yourself, “What is my main fear?” Get quiet—go deep—be honest with yourself.

We bring the fears to the surface so we can examine them and release them—let them go.  (ME: Do a ceremony over releasing your fears.  Write them on paper, say a prayer of release, and then burn the paper. Exhale forcefully and physically blow those fear energies out of your body. Repeat 3-4 times.)

When fearful situations arise, they are good things!  They help us recognize the fear behind our motives and actions, and enable us to address it and release it.  Sometimes these base fears arise during our childhood when we are unable to defend ourselves, so back then we felt helpless, defenseless—now in the childhood fear.jpgpresent situation when similar emotions are triggered, even if it isn’t exactly the same situation, that same base fear arises and we are stuck in that fear and feel as helpless as we once did as a child. So we have to examine the fear and deconstruct it for all the components to see that we are now inherently safe because we are now able to better protect ourselves and to choose our responses and actions, rather than having the intentions/actions of others forced upon us.

This is when we learn to react differently in the NOW—stopping the looped pattern of reaction and behavior—and creating new patterns of response, and to reprogram our neural networks to develop new ways of looking at similar situations and new ways of reacting, or NOT reacting, to whatever is happening around you.

If you are feeling fearful, then stop yourself, calm yourself down, breathe deeply expelling the fear energies, and put your hand on your heart and say to yourself, “I’m okay.  I’m really okay.” And breathe through it. Keep doing that until your energy shifts higher.

Once the fearful thoughts are neutralized, then shift your awareness to that of feeling deeply at peace inside. Feel that peace in your heart area.  Really feel the peace of the moment where you are holding peace for yourself. Neutralize the once fearful thoughts using the desired feeling of peace and wellbeing, then you can move forward with your life from that still-point of peace and being in your own power w/o allowing any fear to adversely affect you. You eliminate the fear from your life.ichoosetobeme

Keep this thought in mind:  It’s okay to say NO to other people.  It’s okay to create space for yourself. That’s how you take back your power. Clarity often comes with a little bit of solitude where you can actually hear yourself, rather than hearing others barking at you.

Create time for yourself. Take time, like early in the morning, to create in your mind your perfect day ….no matter what you might actually face that day—create YOUR perfect day first in your mind.  That’s the energy you want to attract.

What do you really want in your life? That is your new focus. Make the time for yourself to determine what you DO want, and decide what you need to do to get it.

On limiting beliefs expressed around you …If your vibration is high enough, a limiting belief doesn’t matter. …When you are in alignment with your soul, limiting beliefs do not matter because you are able to easily release those beliefs from your consciousness.

But if you find yourself reacting adversely to others, then there is a subconscious program within you that is allowing you to be triggered by the person or the situation. That is actually the opportunity to allow the deeper hidden fear to surface for release.  We release those fears to move forward in creating the life we desire. So getting triggered by others is simply a good way to recognize another deeply held fear for your intentional release. (It may not feel like it at the time, but that person is doing you a favor by aggravating you.)

bringittolightWe bring it from the subconscious to consciousness to deal with it.

Bring it from the darkness to the light.

That’s where you can look more closely at it, and then let it go.

You release your fears to feel your true inner peace.

When you are living your true potential, you are living your highest joy.

That is living beyond fear.

Notes from “The Secret of Life” (2017) by Eckhart Tolle

I am a fan of Eckhart Tolle and have read many of his books, including The Power of NOW, so here are a few notes from this video titled “The Secret of LIFE”. I found that he elaborates on Presence and the concept of being present better here than in other videos I’ve seen from him. The actual YouTube version is listed above if you are interested:

“…There are two dimensions to you—to who you are—one that you are very familiar with—the person—the personal entity with a past and a future, ….including the physical body—the entity of ME—its life situation. That is usually the limit to people’s perceptions of themselves, not realizing that there is a deeper dimension in them that is…the Light of Consciousness—so that any moment you are both a person and you are the Light of lightofconsciousness6.jpgConsciousness that has nothing to do with your person or personal history….when the Light of Consciousness predominates over the personal sense of self, I call that being Present. There is a presence which you cannot touch or see or make into an object of consciousness. ….Because the Presence is an eternal subject not an object to your consciousness. …

“So in any situation—in the NOW—when you can sense the Presence rather than the personal, ….who are you really? Are you the Light of Consciousness seeing others around you without judgment, …or can you only operate as the Person of YOU with your psychological makeup—your sense of limited perception?  How do you feel, ….how do you sense, …the deeper Consciousness itself (of which you are only a minute part)?… At preeentmomentallthis moment (when you are in Presence) your problems have NO reality… you have only Presence. Therefore, you have no problem. …(Only when you start thinking about things do you perceive ‘problems’.  Problems do not exist in Presence. There may be situations and interactions occurring, ..but that is only what they are…situations and interactions occurring around you, …you can observe them in Presence. When you judge them and designate them as deleterious to you, then you make them ‘problems.’)

“The transcendent dimension can be experienced at any time as the simple powerful fact of the Light of Consciousness that you are.  …before the Light of Consciousness turns into a thought.  ..So you transcend your life situation and see your life situation as a timeless self immersed in the Light of Consciousness.  ..So then you can either be present or you can be immersed in your own stuff (that you judge and perceive as problems).

“…You carry the world inside your head with you,…so you cannot escape it. So you must bring the Presence into your daily existence so you can see thru the gaps in your daily life and simply be the Light of Consciousness… simply BE the Presence (without judgment or emotion).   When you are lost in your thoughts, you are lost in an illusory state of existence …unaware of who you really are.  livein now ekWhen you are Present, you can sense the peace of who you are in essence …you are not totally trapped in the personal sense of self.  A simple sense perception can take you out of your (thinking) mind and into your sense of just being.  This is when you can occupy two dimensions simultaneously: the formed and the formless—the personal and the Light of Consciousness itself.

“The fact that you are conscious at this moment is beyond doubt, but anything else could be a dream. …When you can know yourself as that Light of Consciousness (recognizing the illusory matter you call LIFE for the illusion that it is), …it is called self-realizationdeath and die ek

“You are the LIGHT from the projector, ….NOT the projection on the screen,…you are just the light.

“Challenges may distract us from our Presence, ….but then we wake up again to who we really are, …the Light of Consciousness, ..(not the projected image on the screen, ….we are just the Light behind it).

evolution ofconsciousness.jpg“We may experience challenging situations, but we do NOT have to suffer because of them, …because suffering is a choice. Suffering is how we choose to view any situation. Things happen to us, yes, …but SUFFERING because of those situations, is optional.”

“It’s wonderful to see you liberated from your personality.  To simply be your Presence without your rigid thought patterns or beliefs, …that is to be liberated.  And as you awaken there is a freedom in that, even though you may have your own particular characteristics, ….there is a transcendent consciousness that persists through it. That is who you are.”

(Deep Sigh)

Gosh, sometimes I hardly know where to start.

So much of what could be said about this life experience that we share, I’ve either already said or it’s better left unsaid.

So much of what we see around us doesn’t necessarily reflect what we hear on the news or see as the focus of our congressional legislators who are elected to represent us and our best interests, not their own personal, political benefits for financial prosperity.

It seems that so many of the world’s existing problems have far more to do with fulfilling the self-interest of a few powerful people rather than making the world a better place to live for everyone.

Sometimes I look out the west windows of my home surrounded by farmland fields and watch the beauty of my natural surroundings change day by day…from snowy whiteness, to freshly budding green grass or new crops, to full-leafed trees and plants, to autumn colors with harvested acres of goldness quickly fading to brown, to the returning first snowflakes of the next winter, and I think we’re missing something about this world. We’re missing our direct connection to the naturally changing processes of life.Seasons-Change.jpg

I’m a part of that world out there—just as we all are. We are an integral part of the natural process of life evolving in multiple forms.

Days come and go—as do we the living beings who witness them doing it.

Our lives change day by day, as do our children’s lives, and their children’s lives; and throughout that daily procession we hope that someway—somehow we can positively impact the world that they live in so that they in turn, have the opportunity to make life better in some way for those who follow after them. We hope and pray daily that there will be a CONTINUANCE to humanity and the best traits of people.

But where I presently stand (or pace with frustration), I’m feeling a sense of limitation—of fast-fading delusions melting away into a harsh reality that states the seriousness of the actual situation our world is in, as we hear the alarm bells marking the limited time that we have to resolve those major issues of avoiding mass annihilation looming over our heads like low-hanging storm clouds ready to burst upon us.

What can I do? I ask myself.  What can WE do? Is there a genuine solution here or is our self-extermination inevitable?

Honestly, I really don’t know. When you have two lunatics playing “mine’s bigger than idot nuclear.jpgyours” with nuclear weapons and mass populations, who knows how this will end.

So, …. I guess that’s what we face day by day, the continued uncertainty of self-interested people in positions of power who are seemingly unchecked by the masses who allow them to remain in those positions until they eliminate all of us.

What could possibly go wrong with that scenario?

(Deep sigh.)

The Overview

What’s the overview here? Day after day I keep asking myself that question.multi

Why are so many suffering in such horrendous conditions all over the world?

It’s easy to get caught up in the disasters occurring nationally and globally, especially when they directly affect you or the friends you care about in some way, but what is the overview of what is actually happening worldwide and WHY is it happening? Is that is even discernible?

There are many distinct possibilities to consider: climate change, nuclear testing, fracking, air and water pollution, over-populations, disruption of natural eco-systems, solar flares and excess solar activity, pole wobble, electromagnetic devastationfluctuations, mankind proliferating in general and all the corresponding havoc that creates, etc..

Then there are all the subheads under “mankind in general” like: stupidity, greed, self-interest, maliciousness, vindictiveness, fearfulness, fratricide, sociopathic and psychotic behavior, to name a few easily recognizable traits.

I haven’t even touched the theology-related excuses for reasons too onerous to god disastmention all basically claiming God’s displeasure over some aspect of our existence that doesn’t adhere to the doctrine being prescribed by a believer.

I don’t even want to go there!

BUT…at the same time a part of me says that to do an accurate overview you have to be able to VIEW the entirety of the situation from a perspective distant enough to allow random chaos to form patterns of coherence. And WHO/WHAT handles that type of perspective other than an omniscient/all powerful being or force that not only understands the logic of what is occurring but INITIATES the situations that create the aforementioned chaos for a reason we are not able to discern.

catch 22.jpgIt’s a Catch-22. The (book and movie) World War II scenario think-process: You’re claiming to be mentally unstable so you can’t serve in the military, but what is more mentally unstable than to want to be in the military serving combat duty? So you use saying you’re crazy as your defense for not-serving, but the military knows you’ll use it and therefore considers that you must be sane to try not to serve, so they ignore your insanity claim.

(Defined by Wikipedia as “A situation in which a desired outcome or solution is impossible to attain because of a set of inherently contradictory rules or conditions.”)

Which means that in this situation I do believe that there is an overview reason for all the chaos, but since I’m not privy to that level of knowing to declare what it is other than my guessing at it—which is what most religions do in their own unique ways, so any answer that I offer will sound eerily close to a theological argument—just slightly skewed because of my own beliefs.

Meaning my view of the OVERVIEW is not verifiable fact, it’s just a different flavor of belief.

And with that stated disclaimer, here goes:

To me it all comes down to whether or not you believe that life is intentional or accidental. Then that distills down into whether or not you believe there is such a thing as “an accident.”voltaire accident q.jpg

If there are no accidents, then everything is intentional and everything has a purpose and a reason for its existence and function in the world we recognize. We just may not know the purpose or reason for it.

Pardon me for this tangent, but I was just rereading some old Carlos Castaneda quotes this morning about the KNOWN, the UNKNOWN, and the UNKNOWABLE, time cc.jpgwhich tries to define the limits to our human comprehension ability. This description alludes to our limited ability to know or learn things that we previously did NOT know, which are represented by the UNKNOWN. Then there is the infinitely large category called the UNKNOWABLE, which is beyond our present human-existence context and our capability to comprehend.

We can’t get our arms around the UNKNOWABLE because it exists beyond our present frame of reference and mental capacity to make any sense of it or even to conceive of it.

To make my point here with no soothing reassurances what-so-ever: I do believe thatcastenada.jpg there is a reason for all the chaos and destruction happening in the world at present, as well as a reason for all the chaos and destruction that has ever occurred at any time in the recognizable history of the earth, BUT….it is likely a reason we cannot grasp with any certainty, or catalog definitively within the material-world parameters that we know.

So does my overview help to calm our fears and anxiety over the nasty situations many are experiencing world-wide?

Not in the slightest.

gods handWhich is the very real example of WHY religions grew in popularity over thousands and thousands of years of human existence—to make sense of the UNKNOWN and to speculate on the UNKNOWABLE, because it’s a pretty scary world out there if you’re on your own and you don’t have a group structure to support you.

Shared risk is shared relief.

And the knowledge we gain over the course of our lives only matters in how we use it.

I concede that some things are knowable, and to that I would say that the overview of catastrophic destruction is that it creates opportunity for change and revision—a clearing of the palate sort of thing for the next course of action.

The key point to consider is that the next course of action is truly up to each of us. How we react to chaos and devastation is how the next phase of our lives unfolds.

At present, whatever situation in which we find ourselves, no matter how horrific, simply IS. Our only choice is in how we acknowledge that fact and move forward to a better existence for ourselves and for everyone else in the world that we know, …if we can even define what that might be.

I’m not sure that I can define it other than it will likely be a shared goal, vilsack goals.jpgrather than a self-interested one.

I’ll go with that.

Manifestation of LOVE

There were a few things I wanted to accomplish this morning, including some tiger kit.jpgcomputer-related stuff, so I plopped down in front of the screen and began to type. Max, the 4-month old tiger kitten from the jungles of Sumatra (or perhaps the neighbor’s barn)—the tiny, orange baby that adopted us 3 months ago, was tearing around my room trying to engage me in play and mutual rough-housing.

I was having none of it. I wanted to write. I wanted to check the news site, Facebook, etc.

He was having none of my “none-of-it,” and began climbing up on everything in sight, including me. When he’d jump up onto my chest for nap-time, I’d put him back down tiger 4again because it’s hard to type one-handed and he’s getting heavier by the day. He must already weigh what our last adult female cat weighed before she died. He’s going to be a monster—a genuine mini-tiger!

He’s at the “look-at-me-I can-jump-as-high-as-the-counter” stage now, so after repeatedly yelling at him for his numerous incursions onto everything I did not want him disrupting, damaging, or pilfering, I finally just gave in to his last jump-to-my-chest assault and held him to me. He immediately quieted and began purring, then nestled gently into my arms and promptly went to sleep.

That’s all he wanted.

He just wanted to be held and loved. All the acting out—the naughtiness—the terrorizing—it was all because he wanted to be held in my arms and I had refused to allow it. So he made me regret my decision in any way that he could.

tiger face.jpgAs I listened to his deep-throated purr that vibrated against my body with a soothing reassurance that this little creature truly loved me in return, I realized that this fuzzy bundle of condensed, kinetic energy was exactly what I wanted, wasn’t it? Spirit gave me the very thing that I needed to fill that void from our last feline housemates passing away. S/he gave me LOVE.

We cuddled for as long as my arm could hold him; and he was ready to move on anyway as evidenced by the little nip to my other arm when I disrupted him. (We’re still working on that no-biting thing.)  Then he was content to sit on his own and watch out the window.

LOVE is not to be ignored. LOVE is not to be taken for granted.4 month old max.jpg

LOVE is to be gratefully enjoyed whenever it manifests.

If you doubt it, …I have LOVE’s Sumatran enforcer I can loan you.

Amendment 25

morning joe

Interesting morning on “Morning Joe”—the early-morning news show that I watch.

It’s kind of a-love/hate-relationship-with-politics show that praises/scours those who competently/incompetently play at politics.

This morning’s topic was the first I actually 25th amend.jpgheard the often verbacious commentators use the term, “Amendment 25” during a discussion on the latest lunacy sting of tweets from Trump (of which a couple more tweets came through during the show itself, which further made their point).

For myself, not knowing what Amendment 25 was (although I had a pretty good idea from what they were referring to), I had to look it up.

When these folks start talking “Amendment 25” you know things are serious.papers of pres

Amendment 25 is the “Presidential Disability and Succession” amendment to the Constitution.

Joe and others were saying it is now time to seriously consider this Amendment as the current President’s mental stability and competency are more frequently coming into question.  Here is the entire Amendment which speaks for itself:

25th Amendment to the US Constitution

(The 25th Amendment, proposed by Congress and ratified by the states in the aftermath of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, provides the procedures for replacing the president or vice president in the event of death, removal, resignation, or incapacitation.  The Watergate scandal of the 1970s saw the application of these procedures, first when Gerald Ford replaced Spiro Agnew as vice president, then when he replaced Richard Nixon as president, and then when Nelson Rockefeller filled the resulting vacancy to become the vice president.  Read more from the Congressional Research Service here….)

Amendment XXV

Section 1.

In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2.

Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

nixon.jpgSection 3.

Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4.

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Such a glorious morning lies before me. All I need do is to fully awaken and “seize the day,” or something equally clichéd.tree.jpg

This is how we often view our daily lives: We wake up to tasks and priorities ahead. There are schedules to keep and miles to travel. And as the beautiful dawning of our lives brightens into the full-blown, glaring daylight of responsibilities and necessities, we weary with the burden of our accepted load.

We sigh in recognition that it’s hard to hold our once awakened enthusiasm in the face of such monotonous drudgery.

Well, ….some would say that when those first rays of the rising sun slipped into our bedroom windows and warmed our snoozing cheeks, we may have woke up in one sense, but not in another.

Philosopher’s of BEINGNESS would say that to be fully awakened is to push all of life’s “doings” aside and to be in the immediate realization that living means “being alive;” and being alive means being aware of our amazing connection to every other thing, person, place, and space around us.

eye.jpgBeing aware means not just understanding the significance of our interconnectedness with the ALL, but it also means empathically resonating with that amazing connection.

Empathically resonating with our connection to the ALL means that we actually feel the pulsing lifeforce flowing through us—we feel the vibration of our nervous system tuning itself to the world around us—we feel a unification of our senses with our physicality that makes us a tuning fork to the Universe tapping our tongs—ringing our finest tones, reverberating our strength and purity back to It in equal vibrancy.

When we fully awaken, we will do so with such intensity and clarity beyond question. We will know, in the most certain of certainties, that NOW, in this MOMENT, in this TIMELESSNESS we call the present, we are TRULY AWAKE; and our life will never be clichéd again.
