The Pretend Life

Lately there has been a running theme from a variety of info sources that I follow, on the importance of our being able to shift our skewed life perspectives and to welcome positive changes into our lives.positivechangeheats.jpg

During this tumultuous time for our nation and the world, not to mention in our own personal lives, I think it is important to consider what these folks are really saying about how we tend to view events occurring around us, what responsibility we all bear for allowing those events to transpire, and even more importantly, how we can shift our perspectives on any event to not allow it to emotionally affect us.

The only thing we do control in many situations is how we REACT, including how we REACT to difficult personal interactions or how we REACT to group decisions to which we personally disagree.

I will be the first one to say that NOT reacting is hard—at times VERY HARD.  But I also know that powerlessworeact.jpgwhen you can be triggered to lose your cool over any issue, either large or small, you have just given away two key personal-power stances: One, is that you’ve allowed another person or situation to pull you out of your higher-frequency energy posture and down into lower-frequency fear/anger-based thinking; and two, once your triggered reaction is achieved and you are about to explode back at them with an angry retort, you have just shown the other person or group that you are easily manipulated to their bidding simply because you can’t control your own thinking and emotions.

Dr. Joe is taking it a little further here. He is saying that the more you let your reactive emotions control you, the more you tend to believe that outside forces control your life. When this pattern of reactivity to external forces keeps reinforcing itself in your mind and bio-chemically within your physical body, it creates patterns of behavior and reactivity to every aspect of your life.

The more you condition yourself to respond to life in a certain manner, the more you reinforce that personal view where you see yourself as a ‘victim of circumstances IN-Life-is-ten-percent-what-happens-to-you-and-ninety-percent-how-you-respond-to-it..jpgbeyond your control,’ rather than the more accurate view of your having a choice and say in every decision you make that affects your life even if the most important choice is one of NOT REACTING to a stressor or an emotional trigger.

He takes it one step beyond by saying that our present perspective on life is based on past reactivity to any situation, that makes it ‘past-situation tainted’ and also means that perspective is likely untrue to the actual affecting influences of the present so that we cling to a view of our present lives that isn’t even accurate:   “The latest research on memory says that 50% of what we talk about in our past isn’t even the truth. So, we make stuff up about the past. People are reliving a life that they didn’t even have just to reaffirm that they can’t change

For all of us, there are events constantly occurring to us and around us. But what matters most to our personal wellbeing and mental health is how we see ourselves in truthful relation to those events, and our willingness to CHANGE personal behaviors that may skew our existing life perspectives.

The stronger the emotion you feel from some event drjoedis456in your life, be it a betrayal, or a trauma.  The more altered you feel inside of you, the more you pay attention to the cause outside of you. Some people have stronger experiences in their life, and it catches all of the brain’s attention. So now they think neurologically within the circuits of the past experience, and they feel chemically within the boundaries of those emotions.

How you think and how you feel creates a state of being. The problem is that if you don’t know how to mediate or control your emotional reaction to that event, and you keep that refractory period of chemicals going on for standard periods of time that event produces a chemical change, and the body needs to return back to homeostasis or balance. But if it can’t, then the elongation of that emotional reaction for days or weeks is called the mood. You keep firing and wiring the same circuits, and you keep conditioning the body into the past.

So then you wake up in the morning and you look for the emotion. Now, all of a sudden you keep it lingering for weeks or months. That’s called the temperament. You keep it going on for years on end. That’s called the personality trait.

The Goal of Wisdom

Been awhile since I’ve quoted Deepak, but here is an abbreviated excerpt from his recent article on self-awakening with the goal of WISDOM as our ultimate life purpose beyond just accumulating knowledge.

 “…Waking up is a metaphor for the conscious life, and the conscious life is what wisdom leads to. Every day we are driven by unconscious impulses and desires, and unexamined processes go on beneath the surface of the mind that lead to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-destructive behavior, and every kind of pointless discord, from household tensions to war.

… In one way or another, allowing our unconscious to go unexamined has caused the greatest and longest suffering in human history. It was suffering and finding a way to end it that became the foundation of Buddhism, but any spiritual teaching that will show people how to wake up also aims to bring them out of suffering.

In that sense, wisdom has a definite purpose, but escaping the ills and woes of the unconscious life is secondary to the main purpose of waking up, which is to know who we really are. Us-versus-them thinking leads to stories about racism and nationalism that caused their own barbarous results.

Waking up allows us to escape all stories and to live free of self-limiting mental constructs. The real question is whether it can be done. Can you and I wake up? If so, how do we go about it?

… Where prior generations had little grasp of higher consciousness beyond the precepts of religion, millions of people today can walk their own path to self-awareness, choosing to include God, the soul, organized religion, and scriptures as they see fit, or to avoid them. Even “spirituality” is a term you can adopt or ignore—the real purpose of waking up is about consciousness.

…We have always had the potential to be wise by using self-awareness to explore who we really are. A society driven by consumerism, celebrity worship, video games and social media gossip, and indifference to massive social problems feels like it could never find wisdom, or even the first impulse to wake up. But I’d argue that we are the most fortunate society to wake up in, simply because higher consciousness is open to anyone. I count this as the greatest opportunity facing us, to see that waking up is possible and to hasten toward it as quickly as we can.”

The Science of Change

Speaking of change: Welcome SPRING!   With the winter that we and many others in similar northerly locations have endured, a change to warmer weather is deeply appreciated.

So I can applaud CHANGE right now, and I imagine that this exuberant change-anticipation is what caught my eye in Dr. Joe’s scienceofchangelogolatest post where near the end he mentioned “the science of change.”

Really?  There is such a thing?

I know he was pushing a new webinar on changing how you think, which likewise affects the body’s ability to heal and replenish itself; and his focus was to help people shift their thinking to create more positive outcomes in their lives.  I know this, and of course, yes, he does make money doing these things. It isn’t all altruistic. BUT… also in the post he was emphasizing the stand-alone importance of change itself. CHANGE simply means a disruption in status quo—a difference in sameness—a divergence from a habitual path—a sampling of newness—a variance in monotony—a more expansive way of seeing, etc..  For the most part he was saying that if you want to change your life for the better, you have to willingly break old habits to do that.

However, the word ‘change’ actually means ‘no longer the same.’

And the most potent reason for change is our unhappiness with the current situation or pleasure pain barometer of change.jpgcondition. It goes back to that ingrained pleasure/pain barometer that rules our lives. If some action feels ‘good’ you keep doing it, and when it doesn’t feel ‘good,’ you are more likely to change what you are doing trying to get back to that ‘GOOD’ feeling again.

That ‘GOOD’ feeling can be called homeostasis—the body’s state of equilibrium—the harmonic balance in body chemicals and body function where the muscles relax, or it’s the emotional calmness of being not too high or not too low—that ‘Goldilocks sentiment’ of it feels ‘just right.’  It’s not exactly a bliss-state but it’s not like a light depression either. It is more like feeling mildly calm and pleasant, but not excited or giddy.

pleasurepainquotewater.jpgHomeostasis is basically just feeling a degree of satisfaction with the current condition as it is, because if you enjoy your life as it presently is, you are less enthused to change any aspect of it.  The ‘need for CHANGE’ decree that pounds away in our temples and often prevents our sleeping comes when we are unhappy about some aspect of ourselves or our lives.

So to say there is a “science of change” is to imply that these human motivations and behaviors have been seriously studied and there is documentation existing on that subject.  Being curious, I checked, and the National Institutes of Health does indeed have a behavioral psychology approach to this “science” called the Science of Behavioral Change:  (https://commonfund.nih.gov/behaviorchange/)

“The Science of Behavior Change (SOBC) program seeks to promote basic research on the initiation, personalization and maintenance of behavior change. By integrating work across disciplines, this effort will lead to an improved understanding of the underlying principles of behavior change. The SOBC Program aims to implement a mechanisms-focused, experimental medicine approach to behavior change research and to develop the ratdrawbehaviortools required to implement such an approach. The experimental medicine approach involves: identifying an intervention target, developing assays (measures) to permit verification of the target, engaging the target through experimentation or intervention, and testing the degree to which target engagement produces the desired behavior change.  “

After reading that description, I do wonder if they are dealing with actual people or merely ‘things’ because they call the participants “targets.”   Now I bet Dr. Joe doesn’t call his workshop participants “targets.” That’s probably why he has such a large human following, and likely why most people hate going to psychologists.  But that’s my personal opinion, and I digress.

changecompass67In finally closing, I will say that CHANGE is simply an aspect of our lives. We deal with it daily. It isn’t something to fear or to dread. But it does require a shift in how we consider change as affecting our lives.

When you can look at change in your life with curiosity and wonder what this new day will present you to explore, then you can realize your true evolutionary potential for maximizing this life experience. It just requires a change in your perspective on how you view your life.

SEE with new eyes.  HEAR what you’ve not before heard.  TASTE the gamut of sweet, sour, bitter, and saltiness. FEEL with sensations so acute that a gentle breeze ripples across the expanse of your awareness.  And SMELL life in its fullest fragrance wherever you are.

These are your tools of perception while you are alive. You can use them to change your life for the better if your present situation isn’t so pleasant.

But again, that is your choice. How you actually view CHANGE is up to you.

 

Change simply means ‘no longer the same.’   And really from day to day, who is?

 

 

The Satellite Connections

Related, but long story:  Long, long ago, I visited my friend in the IT department of the agency where we both worked. She was madly typing into a satellite, data-entry station that was direct-connected into an enormous mainframe computer in an adjacent, sealed, climate-controlled room. mainframebiggy.jpg

From her satellite station she could access all the information the mainframe contained, and even connect to other similarly-connected satellite stations both within the building and throughout the school systems that were likewise connected into the mainframe computer at our agency.

It was like being an active link to a vast neurological network throughout the district’s school systems with the core ‘brain’ centered at our agency. For the schools and our agency, it was a cost-effective, mutually shared system for providing payrolls and all education-related data among a large group of serious users.

apple-macintosh-1984-history.jpgAt that same time in the agency, I was the Graphic Artist and I had my own Mac computer independent of that huge mainframe. My early Mac certainly had its limitations, but it also had its own system and didn’t require an interconnected network like the data-entry satellite stations did.  Back then it was my first understanding of the difference in computer abilities, data storage parameters, and the true difference between a satellite connection and a stand-alone computing system.

Finally, the point:  While we tend to think of ourselves as that stand-alone Mac, I think we are more likely a satellite station to the GOD-mainframe called “absolute consciousness.” Our limited receivers can access the parameters of general consciousness that apply to humans and to their present state of collective consciousness. And codeitrightfirstwhile our individual satellite stations are self-contained in functioning ability, they are limited by their personal receiver’s frequency translators and internal processing units. (I wrote about frequency translators a few posts ago, and a processing unit would be how fast you can make sense of the data that you receive.)

So this morning I was reading a blog entry from Alberto V. called “The Invisible World: Ever Present and Accessible”  (https://thefourwinds.com/blog/shamanism/invisible-world-ever-present-accessible/?fbclid=IwAR2MPOqBWrcxidvssnMY_FFD0ujFWk-Ba005rGnOqhBHN_1_UDt0uiBLAng ) and suddenly recognized my early education on satellite systems connected into mainframes.

“…The sages say the reason we are born into a body in the physical world is to evolve and grow, to acquire maturity and wisdom. To use a metaphor from physics, when we’re embodied, we’re like a photon in a particle state; while in the invisible world, we’re like a photon in a field state. The particle state is our “local” nature—flesh and blood, sitting on a couch reading. The field state is our “nonlocal” nature, in which we extend to the farthest reaches of the universe and are at one with all things. When we die and leave this body behind, we return to our nonlocal nature, to our field state, to invisible Oneness….Our field state, the one we inhabit in between births, encompasses all of creation. The field is insubstantial—we don’t have enough substance to contain our awareness…..

The invisible world exists alongside the visible one, ever present and accessible. We can bring its wisdom into our world at any time to provide healing and balance. The way we do this is by activating the circuitry in the brain that allows us to experience our interconnectedness to all things and all beings in the cosmos. These higher-order neural networks, like all neural networks, are made up of brain cells connected to each other, of neurons that fire together and wire together….

Today the interface between our senses and our machines is moving us ever closer to being able to access all the knowledge in the world instantaneously. But this is not the kind of omniscient awareness I’m referring to. The awareness I speak of is the mind’s ability, in the field state, to experience the cosmos firsthand, across the farthest reaches of space and beyond time….”

Just a thought here: This blog post by Alberto may not be the answer to all our questions, but it may be the correct question framing to consider for acquiring more accurate answers to our deepest questions.

The Softer, Gentler Person

At times I wish I were a softer, gentler person.littlegirlkitten (2).jpg

I wish I could look lovingly at what I consider the lesser behavior traits of others and smile with unconditional understanding and acceptance.

I wish I could just acknowledge how much inbred hatred and fear we all harbor for those who appear different than we are, and yet say ‘It’s okay because we are still quoteongentle45 (1).jpgblessed and mutually bound by our hearts to a greater Divine Love that connects us all.’

And actually mean it.

But I know I am not really a soft and gentle person, no matter how hard I work at becoming one.

That’s just not who I am. I’ve been warrior in too many lifetimes. This I know from my own hypnosis, past-life explorations.

Right now in this lifetime, I’m probably as soft and gentle as I’ll ever be, and that’s okay because it’s who I really am. You don’t tame warrior, you learn to redirect it toward constructive endeavors.

I’m probably more like this ornery, ginger-stripped cat who now shares my house, than I really want to admit.  While I often wish that he were more loving and cuddly—more quoteongentle45 (2)like our many other beautiful, sweet cats of the past—he simply isn’t, because that’s just not who he is and it’s not how he will ever be.

He’s a fighter—a tiger—a ‘tear into you with teeth slashing’ little, orange manic that really likes to do battle even against a much larger foe. (Which unfortunately in this house would be me.)

So I guess that despite how I tend to think of his fiercer, less-cuddly mannerisms as character deficits, I do live with the correct animal match for my true personality. It’s just not pleasant to see yourself reflected in your pet house-mate that way.littlegirlkitten (1)

And when he does decide to snuggle in under my chin, loving me up with his raspy red tongue while I cringe and shudder until he quits, I know that this sign of deep affection is his way of showing me his softer and gentler self, if only for a few, brief, peaceful moments at a time.

The TRUTH of Perception

What is TRUTH?

TRUTH itself is a vibrational frequency that our bodies recognize at a higher level. There is deep vibrational harmony in TRUTH. The body, especially the heart, feels a sense of deep peace on hearing genuine TRUTH.

With genuine TRUTH there is no feeling of anxiety or fear. There can be a fear of hearing the truth, knowing the implications that TRUTH will bring with it, but TRUTH itself is a harmonious, energetic feeling. Similar to a lie detector registering the galvanic skin responses of a person wired up to it, the heart registers harmonious vibrations as trustworthy for consideration.

So TRUTH is a feeling that we all can recognize at the energy level of our being if we allow our more sensitive systems to register it.

So then what is PERCEPTION?mirror percept33

Perception is quite different than you might expect it to be. Perception utilizes the body’s natural sensing systems (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste) to increase its awareness of the environment it encounters at any moment. The primary purpose for utilizing the body’s sensing systems is to alert the living being of the potential in any new experience for safety or possible hazards—which can likewise translate to the body’s ultimate survival or extinction.

But for this post, I will focus on SIGHT—how we perceive the world around us as based on what we SEE; and we SEE because the eye is a smart-lens that captures LIGHT in the visible wave-length form.

Our actual ability to SEE is dependent not only on the apparatus of the eye functioning properly, but is also dependent on the coordination between the eye’s ability to focus that 3f734161510233ed217565f592b1def7.jpgoutside light to cell receptors within the back wall of the eye that recognize the raw electromagnetic lightwave data appearing before it, and the brain’s natural computing/assessment skills to then interpret that raw electromagnetic lightwave data into meaningful images that we associate with pleasant or unpleasant feelings we have previously stored in our memory base.

If we are only babies, it takes a few years of daily experiences to build a pleasure/pain “feelings” database to gauge a new experience against a previously seen/felt one; i.e., pleasurable experience you may want to repeat and painful ones you definitely want to avoid. ‘Neutral feeling’ experiences are registered only as known data.electrospec68.jpg

As you can see from the pictures here, the entire electromagnetic lightwave spectrum is far beyond our eye’s ability to receive data from it. We don’t see low-end spectrum microwaves or radio/television waves. Nor do we see the high-end x-rays or gamma rays with our raw eye vision receiver, but we can “perceive” those frequencies using instruments that are capable of receiving and translating those non-visible lightwaves into more recognizable symbols for us. If you use a cell phone, radio, or television, you are utilizing electromagnetic lightwave spectrum translators. It’s just that we tend not to think about it in this manner.

But in considering the entire electromagnetic lightwave spectrum, visiblelightspec56.jpgour visual perception is pretty limited to the visible lightwave range of from 4 – 7.5 x 1014 Hz .

Of course there are night-vision goggles used today that can amplify existing light to see at night; as well as infra-red, heat sensing devices to recognize a heat signature. So we already know how to “see” more of the electromagnetic spectrum than our naked eyes can show us, but this advanced knowledge that we now consider as perceptual daily standards would have been inconceivable a hundred and twenty-five years ago, before the first x-rays were developed in 1895.

From a broader view, if you think there wasn’t some sort of “intelligence” behind designing humans to operate in the manner that we do, look again at the picture of how the visual receptors of the eye recognize specific light frequencies.  Somebody or something had a specific purpose in mind for the human body, because we are just too well designed not to have a higher purpose for existing.

Finally,…this will seem like a long way to get to the ultimate point of this post, but when I suggest that there are other “higher realities” out there in the ethers that we haven’t yet been able to tune into and receive their transmissions, this is what I’m really referring to: Our abilities to perceive reality as we know it and receive transmissions from optional “higher realities” once we are attuned to receive them, is what I believe is happening now.  Our personal receivers are being adjusted now to pull in previously inaccessible frequencies so that our viewing options may shift higher soon.

That is my belief and my hope. But beyond that, I have no proof.

My only suggestion is this: Tune into the frequencies of TRUTH and tune into frequencies of LOVE, and let’s encourage the higher viewing options to appear for all of us.
